Erica
a friendly and discrete medicine reminder app

Picture

What it does

Taking medication can be a complex series of events including keeping track of time, and what to eat before or after the medication. It not only involves remembering to take medication on time, but also remembering to maintain a personal inventory of doses. Moreover, adding new medicines and changing the prescription can be time consuming and painful. Erica takes care of all these aspect in the most simplified manner.

A reminder can be set simply by taking a picture of a prescription, which will be scanned using OCR and processed.

Erica allows the user to look at a daily timeline view where she can see an overview of all the medicines she needs to take.

Notification reminders can be customised to appear like a common text message and be discrete.

We believe that animations for a utility app like Erica should be subtle, but at the same time should be engaging enough to reinforce the habit of taking medication regularly. Using the pill box as a metaphor, we hit the sweet spot where both these wishes were balanced.

Erica is the final deliverable of a 10 day PURE GUI course at CIID IDP 2015, with a three-person team.
